Riya had spoken to Rekha asking if she was keen for a trek to Coorg with Raj, which she had readily agreed. Later, Raj tied up with a trekking operator at Coorg to include the two of them in a group trek during the weekend. It was a two-day Trek that was scheduled to commence from the pickup point in the afternoon on the first day, so as to reach the hilltop by evening. They were to stay there in tents for the night. The next day, the schedule was to return after breakfast and reach the base by around lunchtime.

It was a long weekend as Friday was a local holiday. As usual, Rakesh had gone to his parents’ home on Thursday night itself. Raj and Rekha set course for Coorg early in the morning on Friday to reach Coorg before noon, so they could join the trek scheduled to commence the trek in the afternoon.
